Sensational Swiss next-gen stars impress in first qualifying round at Swiss Indoors Basel

Seventeen-year-old Henry Bernett (ATP 940) surprised the crowd by defeating the experienced Italian Fabio Fognini (ATP 76) in a thrilling two-set match with a scoreline of 6-3, 7-6. With his strong performance and nerves of steel in the tiebreak, the young Swiss made a clear statement.

In the following match, 21-year-old Jérôme Kym (ATP 141) dominated the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (ATP 62) in a 6-1, 7-6 straight-sets win. Kym impressed with a varied game and a superior serve, which powered him to a well-earned victory.
